Cautions to Consider when using Insurance to pay for Counseling

When I file your insurance claim I must enter a mental health diagnosis for which becomes part of your health care record, often viewable to other health care providers through online portals.  

The diagnosis may be available to other insurance companies who could deny coverage to you if you change insurance carriers such as when starting a new job.  

Although it is now against the law the limit the number of mental health sessions,
insurance companies can authorize a limited number of sessions then require a summary of your progress for more sessions to be authorized.
